THE MISSION OF BHAKTI LUHUR

PROGRAM GUIDELINES

1.  To be servants of the disadvantaged, poor, disabled and in need. They are our masters.

2.  To be a transforming force in the face of disability through COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION in practice.

3.  To be a transforming force in the community through community action and by committing ourselves to a never ending process of including the disadvantaged, the poor and the disabled in the community ensuring their human rights on education .

These three points, due to their compelling reality, have become the fundamental objectives of BHAKTI LUHUR FOUNDATION.

We are all responsible for disability and poverty in the  world  and therefore, together we all have to assume the responsibility in the search for solutions and alternatives.

We commit ourselves on these three levels:

THE MISSION AND PROGRAMS 2010 - 2015

1. THE EMPOWERMENT OF THE DISABLED

To question our relationships with others, especially with the DISABLED, and to recognize the power each person has within him/herself that could be developed. We shall favor the development of that power. With this attitude we should be able to consider the poorest as true partners who have their own resources and solutions.

  • To find all children who are poor, disadvantaged, handicapped, disabled, and in need  in rural low income regions in a comprehensive  way.
  • To visit them at their own places and their own environment for early detection.
  • To serve them  by  integrating them in the community, in schools  or work places  creating a friendly environment
  • To look after them and to guide them so that the inclusion will be permanent and successful.
  • To set up more community learning centers  for this purpose all over Indonesia.
  • To advocat them  and to defend their basic human rights.
  • To empower them,  to rehabilitate and make them self-reliant.
  •   To train consecrated  community workers  for this purpose.

 2.  COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION  AND SOCIAL CO-RESPONSIBILITY

To assume with determination our civic responsibility to participate with strategies which are directed to the re-composition of the social structure and to promote local and global community networks involved in this task.
